Drive in Vancouver

1. Sign up online
Tell us a little about yourself and your car by creating a driver profile.
2. Share your documents
Take photos of the following documents and upload them to your account:
Driver's licence: 21+ years old, Class 1, 2, or 4 (restricted or unrestricted) licences are accepted. Class 5 is not accepted.
If you're uploading an interim licence, please include a government-issued photo ID (e.g. BC services card, passport) in the same photo to verify your identity.
Owner's Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle Registration: Your vehicle model year must be 9 years or newer and be registered in British Columbia.
Proof of work eligibility: Birth certificate, Citizenship card, Passport residency card, or Work permit

3. Class 4 driver's licence
Vancouver driver-partners need a valid Class 1, 2, or 4 licence in order to drive with Uber. To receive a Class 4 licence, you must pass a knowledge test, a road test, and a medical exam.

4. Safety screenings
Once you've successfully uploaded photos of your Class 4 driver's licence to your profile, you'll receive an email to complete your safety screening. The screening will take 3 – 5 days to process and your results will be automatically uploaded to your profile.

5. BC Commercial Driving Record
Request your Commercial Driving Record from ICBC online. Once you've received your commercial driving record, upload it to your profile within 30 days.
If you have less than 3 years of driving experience in BC but have driven elsewhere, upload your driving record from the other provinces / countries here.

6. Minimum vehicle requirements
Your vehicle must meet the requirements to drive with Uber in Vancouver.
Vehicle requirements:
4-door vehicle with at least 5 seats
Vehicle year must be 9 years or newer
Good condition with no cosmetic damage
No commercial branding
Not salvaged or rebuilt vehicles
Pass a vehicle inspection

7. Commercial vehicle inspection
To be eligible to drive with Uber, your vehicle must pass a commercial vehicle inspection by an approved inspection facility. Upon passing, you’ll receive a Commercial Vehicle Inspection Report. Please upload the passed inspection to your profile within 36 days of the inspection date.
Once you receive your report, upload a clear image of the document to your Uber profile.
